Better Way Home Hospice Letters to the editor- Idaho Statesman - Feb 2012

"Thank you for providing great care to my mother....

My mother, age 94, recently passed away, and there were two organizations that made a big difference in the last 12 months of her life that I want to publicly thank. Mom was initially hesitant about moving from her townhome into an assisted living facility, but the professionals at The Bridge at Valley View quickly won her heart, and that became her new “home.” She participated in many of the activities where her diminishing eyesight was not a hindrance; she especially loved the trivia games and singing the old songs. All of the staff, the front desk, the nurses, aides, housekeeping, and dining room attendants — I thank you for all the care and attention you gave to Stella.

Quality of Life Advisors…  What does that mean?

Quality of Life Advisors is an educational outreach program created by A Better Way Home Boise Hospice & Palliative care. Our advisors are individuals who have a thorough understanding and knowledge base of the healthcare system. We have gained resources and experience in the healthcare field that we want to share with our community.  It is our desire that through Quality of Life Advisors, we are able to help those who want to have the best quality of life possible, despite a serious illness or life limiting diagnosis. This program helps families and individuals navigate the health care system, often during a time of crisis – a system that can be overwhelming and confusing to the average individual.  Many of those who are seeking help for their illness do not understand what it means to have home care versus home health.  They may not understand hospice care, or they may have many preconceived notions about what this level of care involves. When they hear the term “hospice,” they may think, “No way!  Hospice means I am on my deathbed.”  We are here to inform and educate our community about what each of these levels of care involve, and which level is the most appropriatefor them at their current stage of illness.

A Better Way Home Hospice welcomes Tony DeVall

Tony joined A Better Way Home in July of 2011 and will be our new director of community outreach. Tony missed being out in the community, building relationships, and advocating for exceptional care at the end-of-life.  Because of this desire to get back to the grass roots of a Boise hospice agency, Tony became part owner of A Better Way Home, LLC in July 2011. He is excited to be a part of such a close-knit, wonderful team, and to be in an industry that truly knows how to bring grace and dignity to those they serve.  He loves educating individuals on the benefits of Hospice care, and he looks forward to bringing this message to the community.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
